ANNIE POOTOOGOOK (1969 - )
"Annie is an emerging artist who began drawing in 1997 under the encouragement of the West Baffin Eskimo Cooperative in Cape Dorset. She quickly developed a preference for drawing scenes from her own life, and has become a prolific graphic artist in the intervening years."
As much as people would like you to think she is some kind of outsider artist, in reality she's the daughter/granddaughter of established women artists. I like her subject matter and can relate to drawing comics about people watching tv and talking on the phone. Not assuming anyone would risk her credibility by referring to these drawings as comics. anyway, i found her gallery's ad in artforum.

Comiqs
This might be a kinda wonky service, I wouldn`t know I haven't tried it. Rachel wanted me to link to comiqs.com where you can make comics using photographs. I guess it has templates already laid out and you just fill in the blanks.
Here is a video.
