damn! in the miso soup by ryu murakami might as well be called 'the rape and murder of japan'. i have never felt so confident halfway through a book before it changed into pretty much the most fucked up thing ever. i absolutely did not see it coming, although i should have. i`m not sure i want to read Piercing now.
